Confessions and Goals for 2015

2015 here we are. The year is starting quite good actually, new job, graduating, House of Cards 3 in two months..
I stumbled upon David Walsh’s two blog posts [1] [2] that talk about his confessions and goals for 2015 and I kinda felt I so much relate to that. So I decided to talk about my plans and goals for 2015, too, that are a little mixed with few confessions.

Learn more & Etch my name in Firefox OS’s history — As someone who’s in charge of making Firefox OS suitable for more than 360 million person on this planet, aka 6% of the world population, I feel like I’m doing something pretty important, and when the day of the first Firefox OS lunch in MENA comes, someone might remember my name. However, to be honest, I know I could do better, because I always feel like a second-class citizen since I’m not as skilled as all the Mozilla developers and Engineers I look up to. So my goal for 2015 is (now or never) learn as much as I can, and contribute to more complex areas in the operating system.

Make a better partner/boyfriend out of me — Okay so my precious left me, you wouldn’t guess why (or you would), because I was too busy being involved with Mozilla. I never had time for her, I somewhat neglected her, my fault, so she left (outch it really hurts like fire!), my goal for 2015 is to be a better companion/partner.

Get to know more people, socialize more — Ok so this is me:
Me Hate People

I’m the kind of person who likes flying under the radar, work peacefully, with little to almost-none interactions with humans, my goal for 2015 is to socialize more and get rid of this lazy habit.

Start a healthy habit — i.e. Do some sort of a physical effort other than typing on a keyboard all day long and during weekends. I like running in early mornings, that was my joy and mean of refreshment during my high school but I stopped that in college, this year laziness shall not pass.

So that was me, my confessions out of my chest and my goals for 2015.
Any confessions to make?

Hey Ahmed, sorry to hear your girlfriend left. I feel a bit guilty for that, as I’m one of the guys who dragged you into the FirefoxOS maelstrom. I got bitten hard by that as well: for volunteer contributors like us, working on the Mozilla mission can take away a lot of our time and energy — way more than a regular job. Beware not to burn out, keep some time for yourself and your beloved ones.

However, on a very selfish way I have to say that I’m *very* happy to see you’re going to keep on working on RTL. Working with you is a pleasure, and getting FxOS right for RTL languages was one of my main goals. 🙂

If you want to run as a habit, you should have a look at RunKeeper. It really boosted my motivation when I started running, two years ago. It may sound silly, but it’s a good booster to see your runs piling up and to keep an eye on your friends activities.

    Best wishes for 2015!
